An overview of the bloody platformer She Wants Me Dead

She Wants Me Dead is a fascinating puzzle game in the best traditions of platformers. The bleak visuals are cleverly brightened up by a driving soundtrack and some bright elements, including fire, torches and other details of the composition. The game is suitable for true fans of black humor, as despite some hilarity, the hero must overcome a number of obstacles in the form of cunning traps and survive.

She Wants Me Dead prequel

The funniest thing about this whole epic is that the obstacles are set up by a cat. The main character Max is the owner of a wonderful furry creature named Lula. But, unfortunately, as is often the case, the guy did not appreciate his pet. In addition to the lack of attention and affection, Lula was also subjected to some beatings. Max would throw her off the bed, he would step on her tail, and he would forget she existed. The black-and-white beauty’s delicate nature suffered greatly from this attitude.

Long walks in the city at night, sitting in a secluded corner, languid glances out the window, helped Lula to accumulate all the negative emotions. She was the only one who had the patience of a cat who decided to take her revenge. She meticulously plotted and then set about executing her plan. She’s created a fatal obstacle course for Max, who must make his way through if he wants to survive.

Levels

The creator of the original puzzle game is Hello There Games. The first release took place back in 2016 on Steam and the game soon found a mobile version. The game consists of ten stages, each of which will expose Max to deadly danger. He must pass through treacherous traps to get to the end and destroy Lila’s monstrous plans for his demise. The levels are full of swinging battle axes, roof and floor spikes, land mines and grinding discs, all positioned with the intention of causing Max injury, pain and death.

Already at the first stage it becomes abundantly clear that the hero has really pissed off his cat. What’s more, and Lula has access to property rights, heavy machinery and a direct line to the dungeon designer of the Tower of London. The arsenal of weapons used during the game is also impressive. Max will have to try very hard and be on guard at all times, as deadly dangers creep up at every turn.

Game mechanics

She Wants me Dead requires time and precise moves to guide the hero down the “infernal path”. To help with the timing, each stage is set to the same music track – ‘She Wants me Dead’ by Cazzette. All the tracks follow the bass and beats of the track. This helps to find the rhythm needed to identify dangerous moments, especially in the later stages when the combination of traps requires precise timing to pass safely.

The completion of each stage is marked by rewards. First of all, Lula presents one of the many silly pictures she’s been forced to endure. This only fuels her hatred for Max and her desire for revenge, which explains why the next stage is even more insidious and devious.

The pet owner himself is also rewarded with cosmetic items to wear. This is rather ironic as, in fact, it’s also a form of Lula’s beauty revenge. The outfits are as silly as the ones the cat has been forced to wear.

Playing on the smartphone, one notices the good responsiveness of the controls. It can often require extreme precision to land on a platform, and a miss can result in immediate death. Control points are fair and are placed immediately after difficult areas to avoid too many returns.
